ICHTYOLOGY Body and Caudal

Ok, I will tell you more about the body and caudal of fish :)

BODY
the body of fish not only streamline (fusiform) as you know, but also many kind. There are four Crossection Body of fish (source: Google Image, 2014)


Fusiform : The fish wihich have this body shape they have fast swimming in open water (Thunnus or Tuna, Katsowonus or Skip Jack, Sardinella or Sarden, Rastreliger or Kembung, etc), or in river which anadromus like Salmon (All kind of this species).
Compressiform : The fish which have this body shape they have quick speed for short distance. Usually this fish catagory life in lake or pound (Niloticus, Gouramy, Cyprinus or golden fish, Tillapia etc).
Depessiform : Swims like a flying bird. the example are Mola (Sunfish) and Ray.
Filiform : Has body slitbers through the water, long like snake. The example Pipe fish and Eel.


CAUDAL


 The pict above is a some basic Caudal shape and in below is the function of that shape.

The example of fish
Rounded : Eel, Clarias (Cat fish).
Truncate : Tillapia.
Emerginate :  Almost all of spesies have it.
Double Emarginate :
Forked : Almost all of spesies have it.
Lunate : Thunnus or Tuna.

Caudal Fin TYPE dividen as three :
          
  DIPICERCAL : There isn't split (Rounded, Truncate)
  HOMOCERCAL : Have symmetrical split (Emarginate, Forked, Lunate)

  HETEROCERCAL Have asymmetrical split (on Shark)
